Art in Dostoevsky Novels

It’s fascinating to notice Dostoevsky’s love for art in his novels. Almost every one of his novels includes references to paintings and detailed descriptions of specific artworks. As one of the most influential and famous thinkers of the 19th century, Dostoevsky used his writing to dive into deep philosophical and psychological issues, and the inclusion of art in his novels raises the question: how did art influence him, help shape his thoughts, and inspire some of his ideas?
In this section, I would like to examine some of the paintings he mentioned in his novels and try to understand what he thought about them, and how and why he chose to include them in his writing.

I am excited about this new piece. It's going to be a little bit challenging to use acrylic. I love to work with oil, but will see what happens.

Copy of Arkhip Kuindzhi at Our Place

I always wanted to have something that will remind me landscapes of Russia. That's why I decided to copy a painting of one of the greatest Russian landscape painter Arkhip Kuindzhi. I love his sense of light and colors. He is one of the best at painting light at night, or night byitself. Here you can find more information about him.  So, my copy of his work is below. I didn't want to copy every detail. I was focused more on the color harmony and light in his painting

Moscow Park Uskoe. It is amazing that all you need to do to find yourself in a quiet place without the noise of the big city is take an eight minute walk from Metro Konkovo.
This is special place for my wife and me. We enjoyed our time together there by talking a walk. On one sunny day when the sun was going down, (it's getting dark at 4 during winter time in Moscow) we saw a beautiful view. The colors of the sunset were bright and alive, snow was reflecting interesting colors. I think everyone would notice the beauty of nature if they would see something similar to that. I personally truly enjoy nature when I can put my impressions on the canvas. Even then I don't feel satisfaction because I can not fully transmit what is inside. When it happens I better understand what Dostoevsky said: "I am now reading over what I have just written, and I see that I am much cleverer than what I have written. How is it that what is expressed by a clever man is much more stupid than what is left in him?"..
